Some portable PlayStation titles

I don't buy that many physical games anymore but today I brought home two new ones, both are PlayStation Portable titles. I really like the PSP system and I want to play a bit more on it too. I bought Ridge Racer and Final Fantasy II today. Ridge Racer is a game that I played on the PSP of a friend a long time ago and I really enjoyed that game. Final Fantasy II, well it's Final Fantasy and I haven't played this one yet so that was reason enough for me to get it.

Behold, a retro game! And digital on PlayStation 4

It's been quite some time since I last bought a retro game but yesterday I stumbled upon a PlayStation game that always had my interest but I never came across it before. It's Lomax, a 2D platformer which is actually a Lemmings game. I decided to pick it up because this is one of those games that I wanted to have for quite some time now. I was also quite surprised by the prices they sell it for online, luckily I didn't pay that much for it. I also want to say that you probably won't be seeing anymore physical PlayStation 4 games here. I decided to go fully digital on the console for a couple of reasons, the main one being my disc drive that is randomly ejecting discs and I don't want to buy a new console. It's also very convenient to have the games digitally. This way I bought Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age and I'm playing that one right now, it's a great game and it's my first time playing this one.

Time to splat some inklings

The first Splatoon was a really nice surprise for me on the Wii U, initially I wasn't really interested in it but after seeing more and more about the game I wanted to try it out and ended up having a blast with it. Now Splatoon 2 has arrived on the Switch and I can't wait to dive into this one this evening! I also ordered a case for my Switch with a Splatoon theme, really like that one too. I don't use it that much in handheld mode but ocassionally I want to take it with me.

A blast from the past

Finally he's back, folks! Crash Bandicoot made his long awaited return yesterday on the PlayStation 4 with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, the first three games in the franchise completely remade. This was a long awaited game for me, I love the first Crash games and this trilogy really does them great justice. It looks absolutely amazing too.

Gunning the vinyl

Data Discs was at it again with a new Sega soundtrack release on vinyl, this time they put out Gunstar Heroes and I received my copy yesterday. I never played the game but I think about doing that through the Sega Classics Collection on Steam. But I know Data Discs always releases quality and I want their complete collection too.

Exploring caves for the first time

Cave Story is a game that I heard a lot about but I actually never got around to play the game before. Yesterday I received a package which contains Cave Story+ for the Switch. I know I can play this game for a lot cheaper but I really like to play games on my Switch and the package for it is just gorgeous. It also comes with a soundtrack CD so that's a nice bonus for me. I'll finally play this game for the first time today!

Back to the 3DS

I needed a bigger game to play among the smaller titles that I'm playing right now and for that I looked at the Nintendo 3DS and its Fire Emblem games. I really liked the first western one on Game Boy Advance but I never played a lot of the other ones on Game Boy Advance and GameCube. I decided to dive back into the franchise with Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. I've played it for a while already and I'm really liking it so far, it looks great on the 3DS too.

Let's create life

I'm still having a ton of fun with Injustice 2 on PlayStation 4 and I also play the occasional online matches in Ultimate Street Fighter II on Switch. But I wanted to have another game besides these fighters to spend some time in until the next game releases that I want. I tried the demo for Birthday the Beginnings yesterday and really enjoyed that one so my mind was set on getting the game. I ordered it and it arrived today with the mail. Really looking forward to start this game tomorrow.

Street Fighter II is back

If there is one fighting game that I have a soft spot for it's definitely Street Fighter II, I think it was my first game that I had in the genre way back when Super Nintendo was still alive and kicking. I will not say that I'm a pro at it but I always enjoy playing it a lot. So for me this release on Switch under the name Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers was really a must buy, I'm pretty sure I'll sink quite some hours into this one!

Two more soundtracks and wow... Look, a game!

Two more soundtracks on vinyl arrived today, one that I pre-ordered some time ago and another of which I just bought the game on Switch. The pre-ordered one is The Last Guardian, a great game with an amazing soundtrack. The art on this record is beautiful too! The other one is from Thumper, a game I recently discovered on the Switch. It's an amazing (and difficult) game with a great soundtrack. And look at that, I even bought a new physical game! I got myself Injustice 2 on PlayStation 4, didn't play the first one but I liked what I saw from the second one.

Let's put a smile on that goonie

It's actually been over two months since I got something physical for a game that wasn't a soundtrack... I got two new LEGO Dimensions packs, the new Goonies Level Pack that was released recently and also the Joker and Harley Quinn Team Pack. Harley Quinn is my favorite DC Comics character so I had to have her for the game at one point, Joker is a nice extra for me! I haven't played the Goonies level yet but I will do so this evening or tomorrow.

Once again soundtracks

Once again I didn't buy any new physical copies of games. I did get two new digital ones however, both for Switch. Those are Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap and Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. Wonder Boy is an amazing remake of probably my favorite retro game and Shovel Knight remains a joy to play. Besides these digital games I did get two new soundtracks, one on vinyl and one on CD. The vinyl is from Yooka-Laylee, a game I don't have yet but will have as soon as the Switch version becomes available. But the music is by David Wise and Grant Kirkhope so I couldn't go wrong there. The other one on CD is from NieR: Automata, I'm still playing the game, I'm in my third playthrough right now and it remains a fantastic game by PlatinumGames. The music is amazing in this one.
